The Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) has proposed to take up various development schemes on the Doddakere Maidan exhibition grounds here, which will host the Dasara exhibition, beginning from October 5. The expo will conclude on January 2.
KEA Chief Executive Officer H.T. Chandrashekar told presspersons recently that the Chief Secretary had written to the government departments and the offices of boards and corporations about putting up their stalls at the exhibition. The Deputy Commissioner of Mysore has also written to 20 States, requesting them to set up stalls for their artisans.
This year’s bid amount for the exhibition is Rs. 3.8 crore and the last date for submitting tenders is September 7, he said.
CCTV cameras
In view of the safety of visitors and to prevent any inconvenience to them, closed-circuit television cameras would be installed at different points on the grounds and the parking lot, he said. Efforts would be made to bring delicacies from different regions for the food park.
Besides setting up a help desk to assist the needy, special emphasis would be given to cleanliness.
Also, steps would be taken to construct new toilets through the Nirmithi Kendra following instructions by the Deputy Commissioner, he said.
He said more garbage bins would be placed at various locations to ensure cleanliness and hygiene.
The KEA would strive to make the expo a plastic-free zone. A park for children and a relaxing place for senior citizens would be established, he said.
A giant pandal with 101 stalls would be established to provide space for local artisans, reputed inter-State artisans, women’s SHGs and others to display their products under one roof. The space for the pandal had been earmarked, he said.
