Bhadravati to host national kabaddi tournament

The Karnataka State Amateur Kabaddi Association, in association with the Shivamogga District Amateur Kabaddi Association, has organised a national-level ‘A’-grade invitational Kabaddi tournament for men and women at the Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant Stadium in Bhadravati from April 2 to 5, M.J. Appaji, Bhadravati MLA, has said.

The tournament has been organised to commemorate Gundanna and Gooli Thimmappa, kabaddi players from Bhadravati city.

The tournament would be conducted under flood light, he said at a press conference here on Saturday.

So far, 15 teams, including those from Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd., Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., Mahindra and Mahindra, Central Reserve Police Force, have registered their names for the tournament. A sum of Rs. 2 lakh would be given as cash award for the winning team, followed by Rs. 1 lakh in cash for runner-up and Rs. 50,000 for the team securing third position, he said.
