Belur Town Municipal Council is all set to launch an android-based mobile application to reach out to the residents of the town.
The council, which met on June 22, has approved the idea of launching the mobile application which will be operational in a month.
T. Srinidhi, president of the TMC, on Monday, told The Hindu , “We have held consultation with experts to design the application suitable for the Town Municipal Council. Once it is ready, we will inform the public to install it in their mobile phones.” Mr. Srinidhi said that he got the idea of creating the application after he gained knowledge about another application — BBMP Sahaaya— launched by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
The proposed application would have options for the public to complain to the urban local body about problems related to water supply, non-clearance of municipal solid waste and other issues. “The application will have an option for the residents to check their application status. We will have a separate cell to handle the issues received through the application,” he said.
In future, the application would be linked to details of properties in the town, he said adding that the residents could also pay property tax through the application.
