With the deadline for providing securtity to ATMs across the city about to end, city police reiterated that the top officials of the banks would be held responsible and booked as prime accused if they failed to meet the deadline.

The city police had extended the deadline to all the banks for December 31 to provide security after the gruesome attack on Jyothi Uday, the Syndicate Bank Manager at the busy ATM on N.R. Square in November last year.

We have provided a list of security measures to be installed at all the ATMs of the bank by December 31 failing which the General Manager of the banks would be booked under section 188 of CrPC.

The Jurisdictional police have verified the ATMs in their jurisdiction and have instructed to install alarm, CCTV camera and a security guard compulsorily.

The Bank had earlier approached the city police seeking more time for which the city police have extended the deadline to December 31.
