Channapatna MLA C.P. Yogeshwar and hundreds of farmers participated in the programme.

Farmers and senior leaders of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) offered ‘bagina’ at the Sankalagere lake in Channapatna in Ramanagaram district on Monday.

The lake is one of the major water bodies in Channapatna taluk and had been irrigating hundreds of hectares of land in the vicinity of Sankalagere. However, it had gone dry for several years due to scanty rainfall.

Link project

The taluk administration had recently launched the ‘Kanva lift irrigation-Sankalagere lake linking project’ to fill the lake. Hence, the lake has been filled to the brim after a long time.

Channapatna MLA C.P. Yogeshwar, after inaugurating the programme organised to offer ‘bagina’, requested the KRRS leaders and local farmers to perform a pooja.

Mr. Yogeshwar said that the project will improve the groundwater table and help the farmers to cultivate their lands.

KRRS leaders and Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. (CNNL) officials were present.
