The State government is likely to introduce ‘Arogya Bhagya’ for retired police personnel from July, under which they will be entitled to chemotherapy, dialysis, thalassemia, angioplasty medical facilities worth of ₹1 lakh and implants worth ₹2 lakh.
On Friday M.C. Mariswamy, president, Retired Police Officers’ Association, Mysuru unit, said he had definite information that the Arogya Bhagya scheme chalked out in the previous government’s rule would be introduced across the State from July this year.
The government has allotted a sum of ₹10 crore to ensure police personnel get quality medical service after retirement.
Mr. Mariswamy said apart from the police their spouses could also avail medical facilities under the scheme.
The retired officials have to enrol in their District Retired Police Officers’ Association or Union by paying a stipulated fee by June to make themselves eligible for the services.
169 private hospitals
Mr. Mariswamy said that over 169 private hospitals were identified across the State and the Director General of Police is expected to release the list in the coming days.
All the retired personnel who have enrolled would be given an identity card with which they could get medical treatment in the empanelled hospitals.
The retired personnel could get details at the association office at Nazarabad police station during office hours, he added.
