Antique idol seized in Bangalore

One person was arrested and an idol dating back to the 13th century, seized from him, Police said.

K.G. Kurien, who was taken into custody in Bangalore on Friday, was looking for customers to sell the Veerabhadraswami idol, Bangalore City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters.

The detained person told police that he discovered the idol while digging land for laying railway track at Biremagalur near Chikmagalur, Mr. Bidari said. The idol could fetch Rs 20 lakh in the international market, according to estimates.
