Taking exception to animal activists objecting to the drive against stray animals, Minister for Urban Development and Haj Roshan Baig said here on Monday that they (activists) should also think about human beings.

Responding to the discussion on call attention motion moved by JD(S) member Basavaraj Horatti in the Legislative Council on Monday during which Mr. Horatti drew the attention of the Minister to the menace of stray pigs and stray dogs in Hubballi-Dharwad, the Minister said sometimes they became helpless as much hue and cry is raised on issues concerning animal rights.

Referring to an incident in Bengaluru in which the government’s action was opposed by PETA and there was subsequent criticism on social media, Mr. Baig said. “We agree that there are animal rights issues. But they should also think about human beings. They will realise it when something happens to their children because of stray animals.”
