Elaborate arrangements have been made for the biennial elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council from six teachers’ and graduates’ constituencies on Friday. The polling will be held between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Bengaluru Division Regional Commissioner Shivayogi C. Kalsad told reporters on Thursday that 22 candidates were contesting from Bengaluru Graduates’ constituency that has 65,354 voters.
Polling will be held in 82 booths in the districts of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagaram, and BBMP areas in this constituency, he said.
In the South-West Teachers’ constituency that comprises the districts of Davangere, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Chickballapur, and Kolar 14 candidates are in the fray. This constituency has 19,402 voters.
The other constituencies that will go to the polls on Friday are South Teachers, South-East Teachers, North-East Graduates, and South-West Graduates.
To facilitate graduates and teachers to vote, the Election Commission has sanctioned them a day’s special leave.
