Promising actor Yasho Sagar (Bharat) of Telugu blockbuster film Ullasanga Utsahanga fame died in a car crash on National Highway 4, near Sira in Tumkur district, on Wednesday.

His friend Vishwanath Reddy (27), who was driving, also died on the spot when the speeding car in which they were heading towards Bangalore from Pune crashed into the railings of a bridge around 6 a.m. Their friend Lokesh, who was sleeping on the back seat of the car, was rushed to Hosmat hospital in Bangalore with severe injuries.

The budding star, a Kannadiga, made his debut with Ullasanga Utsahanga, which hit the screen in 2008. Two years later, Yasho Sagar acted in another super-hit, Mr. Premikudu, which was produced by his father, B.P. Somu. Mr. Somu is a film producer and a businessman in Bangalore.

“Fate is cruel,” actor and former chairperson of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Jaimala told The Hindu on hearing about the accident. “Yasho Sagar was a humble and kind person. I was shocked when I heard the news,” she said.

Yasho Sagar was a cousin of Kannada actor Prajwal Devaraj and was known to many film personalities in Karnataka. All the three youngsters had been to Mumbai to buy costumes for Yasho Sagar’s upcoming movies.

The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the speeding car, an officer attached to the Sira police station told The Hindu. The trio left Pune at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the officer said.

The post-mortems were conducted at the government hospital in Sira. The bodies were then handed over to their relatives.
