A book on the lives of 104 women of substance, who have contributed to society in different walks of life, was released here on Wednesday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The book, 104 Women Will Inspire , has been written by Geeta, wife of Sugar and Cooperation Minister H.S. Mahadev Prasad. The 104 women include Saalumarada Thimmakka, Sudha Murty of Infosys Foundation, and the former Minister Leeladevi R. Prasad.

The book is part of a doctoral thesis submitted to the University of Mysore by Ms. Geetha. She said the main intention of bringing out the lives and contributions of these women in the form of a book was to inspire others.

Jnanpith Award winner Chandrashekar Kambar hailed the book as a prominent work in Karnataka as far as recording the history of women was concerned. Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande, Mr. Mahadev Prasad and literary critic Narahalli Subramanya also spoke.
