Teacher cuts hair to discipline students

February 09, 2017 12:38 am | Updated 12:38 am IST - Vijayapura:

In an attempt to enforce discipline among some students, a teacher has allegedly cut part of their hair.

The incident took place at Government Adarsha Vidyalaya School in Hunashyal village of Basavanabagewadi taluk on Tuesday.

The teacher, Sridevi Dhawalagi, was reportedly angry with some students of class 8 who had long hair and had not trimmed them, allegedly, even after several warnings.

She reportedly cut some of the hair of the students.

Parents visited the school the same day and demanded an explanation from the teacher. Though the teacher tried to convince them of her good intentions, the parents did not accept it.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Hindu on Wednesday, S.S. Biradar, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, also admitted that the teacher had committed a mistake.
