Basava Krishi Award for Manik Sarkar

The Lingayita Panchamasali Peetha, Kudala Sangama, has selected Manik Sarkar, Chief Minister of Tripura, for the national-level Basava Krishi Award for 2016–17 instituted by it.

The award, which includes a purse of Rs. 1 lakh and a citation, will be given to him on January 15, during a farmers and labourers’ convention and the 7th Krishi Sankranti function to be held at Basava Vedike at Kudala Sangama in Bagalkot district, according to a press release from the peetha.

The award is being given in appreciation of Mr. Sarkar’s service towards the welfare of farmers, labourers and the working class, Basavamruthuyunjaya Mahaswamy of the peetha said in the release.
