626 students graduate from JSS Women’s College

In all, 626 students completed their graduation and postgraduation from JSS Women’s College this year and received their awards and certificates during the 9th Graduates Day ceremony here on Monday.

Of these, 602 graduated from various degree courses and 24 have completed their postgraduate courses. The awards and medallions were given by Manjula Chellur, Chief Justice, Bombay High Court.

Among the graduates, 364 students have passed in first class. The topper in BA course was R. Sushma (81.21 per cent), while K.V. Sunanda came second (78.67 per cent).

Ms. Chellur, in her keynote address, stressed the importance of being conscious of ones duties towards society and nation as much as being conscious of ones rights.

“Though the fundamental rights are enshrined in the Constitution, it also has an obligation on our part to ensure that freedom and liberty of others was not compromised,” she said.

Ms. Chellur told the students to remember the sacrifices made by their parents and guardians as they embark upon the next stage in life.

In the BSc. course, G. Rajeshwari topped the scroll of honour (91.83 per cent), while S. Sumana came second (90.43 per cent).

In the commerce category, V. Priyanka Roy was the topper (89.38 per cent) while S. Manasa stood second (96.95 per cent).

T.P. Swathi was the topper among the BBM students (82.83 per cent) and C. Nalina came second (81 per cent). The topper in the BCA course was M. Malathi (88.21 per cent) while M.N. Ranjeetha Urs came second (88.1 per cent).

In the BBA section, B. Jyothi topped with a cumulative grade points average of 9.31 and S. Shwetha came second with CGPA score of 9.13.

From the PG section, H.R. Prathima topped the list in MA Economics with a CGPA of 7.97 and R. Pooja came second with CGPA of 7.87. The topper in M.Com was T.S. Ranjitha with a CGPA score of 7.87 followed by G. Ranjitha who secured 7.84.

In M.A. English, C.N. Namratha was the topper with a CGPA score of 7.34 followed by N. Lithika with 7.29.
