520 applications received at Lok Adalat for disabled persons

A special Lok Adalat for people with disabilities was held on the premises of a local court here recently. It was organised by the Legal Service Committee, Sirsi Town Municipal Council, Spandana Samste and Sirsi Bar Association, according to a release on Tuesday.

As many as 520 applications were submitted by parents or guardians of persons with disabilities. Of them, 104 applications were from rural areas. More than 50 per cent of the cases were resolved on the spot. As many as 12 persons were sanctioned pensions and more than 100 got sanctions for construction of toilets and gas connections.
