Voting for the bypolls to Ward No. 32 of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) was held here on Sunday and polling was moderate with 47.99% of the eligible voters exercising their franchise.
By-elections to the ward was held consequent to the cancellation of the membership of the previous councillor Madesh, who was convicted of murder and has been jailed.
In all, there were 10,201 voters eligible to vote of whom 5,053 were men and 5,048 women. Of them, 4,923 voters exercised their franchise. There were no untoward incidents.
The polling was held in 12 booths across the ward which comprises Gokulam II Stage, Kalidasa Road, parts of V.V. Mohalla, and surrounding places.
There were five candidates in fray and the JD (S) had fielded S.B.M. Manju, who was locking horns with B.K. Prakash of the Congress and K. Madesh of the BJP. Counting will be held on July 5 at the Sanskrit College.
