In all, 27,079 students, including 14,142 boys and 12,937 girls, will be writing the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination in Shivamogga district. The examination will be held from March 30 to April 13 across the State.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction T. Narayana Gowda told The Hindu that 93 examination centres would be set up in the district for SSLC examination. Of them, 30 centres were in Shivamogga taluk, 17 in Bhadravati, 12 in Sagar, 11 in Shikaripur, 10 in Sorab, eight in Tirthahalli and five in Hosanagar taluks. Of the 27,079 students appearing for the examination, 14,806 were from rural areas and 12,273 from urban areas.

The department has made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the examination. The department would press into service 25 vehicles for delivering question papers to examination centres from the Taluk Treasury. A two-member squad each would be deployed to all centres to monitor the examination process. In addition, seven district-level squads had been formed to pay surprise visits to examination centres.

The department had made arrangements to provide meals for students appearing for the examination. Funds available under the Akshara Dasoha scheme would be utilised for the purpose. The Department of Health and Family Welfare had been requested to deploy a nurse each to all examination centres, he said.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code would be enforced in about 200 metres radius of the examination centres. Students and officials assigned with the examination duty were barred from carrying mobile phones to the centres. Photocopying centres in the vicinity of examination centres would remain closed, he said.
