An attractive passing-out parade at the district police headquarters ground here on Wednesday marked the inclusion of 198 woman police constables into the State civil police wing.

These woman police constables from 19 districts had undergone training in Dharwad and successfully completed it. This is the 19th batch of trainees who have undergone training in Dharwad.

The chief guest at the passing-out parade, Inspector-General of Police (Northern Range) K. Ramachandra Rao, presented prizes to the candidates who had secured places in various competitions held during training.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the recruits have been trained in physical fitness, handling of weapons and the latest devices that helped in regulation and detection of crime. During the eight-month course, they had been given training in Indian Penal Code and other relevant laws, cyber crime, psychology and criminology, he said.

He said that the objective of the training programme was to enable them discharge their duties more efficiently and in a responsible manner. He called upon the recruits to serve society in a better manner as their position in the Police Department provided them special privileges.

Superintendent of Police of Dharwad G. Sangeeta, Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad S.B. Bommanahalli and Chief Executive officer of Dharwad Zilla Panchayat Snehal and others were present.
