The State government has issued the preliminary notification for acquiring 1,230 acres of land for six-laning Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, which is currently choc-a-bloc with traffic especially on weekends and extended holidays.
The Union Surface Transport Ministry has approved the project envisaging the widening of the highway from the existing four-lane to a six-lane highway, besides construction of bypasses and flyovers at key towns lying between the two cities. A senior official of National Highways division of Public Works Department (PWD), who revealed that the State government had issued the preliminary notification for land acquisition, said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) had been submitted.
The land proposed to be acquired has taken into account a service road along the stretch of 123 km of the six-lane highway.
