12 residential schools proposed in Kolar

Rs. 96 crore sanctioned for purpose: Minister

Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya has said that Rs. 96 crore has been sanctioned for constructing 12 residential schools in Kolar district.

He instructed the district administration to identify pieces of land for the purpose and hand them over to the department at the earliest.

Each school would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 8 crore, he said. He was speaking after inaugurating a new building of the Morarji Desai Residential School at Madanahalli Cross in the taluk on Friday.

Quality education was being imparted to students of Class 6 to Class 10 in the residential schools.

The standard of education in these institutions was higher than that in private schools, Mr. Anjaneya claimed.

Union Minister K.H. Muniyappa spoke.

MLA K.R. Ramesh Kumar, Kolar Zilla Panchayat president R. Narayanaswamy and Chief Executive Officer of the ZP R. Vinod Priya were among those present.
