Seventy-three families in 11 remote villages in Bandal gram panchayat area in Sirsi taluk will get electricity connection for the first time, said Hescom Executive Engineer Deepak Kamat.
The work to lay power lines will begin from April at an Rs.1.20 crore and the connections will be completed before the onset of monsoon.
The villages have been trying to get electricity connection for two decades.
Their applications to peoples’ representatives were not heeded and they submitted a memorandum to Ravindranath Naik, member of Human Rights Commission, who led a panel of the villagers to the Hescom executive engineer recently.
