Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi after he complained of uneasiness on Friday night.

82-year-old Mr. Kalam was at his Rajaji Marg residence when he developed high fever and flu. His personal staff rushed him to the Army Hospital where his condition was said to be stable, an official in the former President’s office said.

“He has been touring a lot in recent weeks. Doctors have advised him complete bed rest. His blood pressure, ECG and other vital parameters are normal. Mr. Kalam is likely to be discharged from the hospital in a day or two,” he added.
