Justice ( retd) Asok Kumar Ganguly maintained his silence here on Thursday over the Union Cabinet deciding to bring Presidential reference to remove him from the post of chairperson of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission.
“I do not know anything, officially. I have nothing to comment”, Justice Ganguly told The Hindu .
Last month the former Supreme Court Judge had written to the Chief Justice of India raising questions about the Supreme Court Committee report which held that allegations against him by a woman law intern prima facie disclosed an act of unwelcome behaviour.
In the letter he had also said that there was a “concerted move” to tarnish his image as he had given judgements against powerful interests.
After writing the letter Justice Ganguly who has been actively involved in the functioning of the West Bengal ever since the charges against him have been made public had refused to comment on the matter.
While there has been demand for his resignation certain groups and lawyers have said that Justice Ganguly should not be forced to quit the State Human Rights panel.
