JD(U) leader blames it on RJD

July 27, 2017 10:11 pm | Updated 10:11 pm IST - NEW DELHI

As Nitish Kumar took the oath of office barely 14 hours after resigning as Bihar Chief Minister, this time with the BJP’s help, JD(U) State president Bashishtha Narayan Singh dismissed the allegations of opportunism against him.

“Nitish Kumar took this decision in keeping with his kind of politics: good governance and zero tolerance of corruption. The first duty of any political leader is to make governance a priority,” Mr. Singh said.

“Those accusing Nitish of opportunism should instead question the RJD that put family ties above the alliance. After all, Nitish wanted Tejashwi Yadav to respond to the charges against him and not to break the alliance. It was the RJD that made it a deal-breaker. The presence of heavy internal contradictions between the allies brought on the recent events,” Mr. Singh said.
