Former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh “continues to be in a coma and very critical” on Saturday in hospital, where he is being treated for a severe head injury he sustained after a fall on Thursday night at his residence here. Seventy-six-year-old Mr. Singh is under care and treatment at the Army Research and Referral Hospital, where he was admitted early on Friday. He is on life support systems and under constant monitoring by a team of neurosurgeons and critical care providers.
On Friday Mr. Singh underwent a lifesaving ‘decompressive hemicraniectomy.’
Several senior political leaders from various parties visited the former Union Minister on Saturday.
“Mr. Singh was brought in a highly critical condition around 1 a.m. on Friday. He was in an unconscious state and an urgent CT scan of the head showed `an acute subdural haematoma with mass effect, a midline shift and contusion of the brain substance,” noted doctors at the hospital
