The Indian Ambassador in Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) Shamma Jain and other officials of the Indian mission in Abidjan are safe despite heavy fighting in and around the diplomatic area.
Ms. Jain, along with some other heads of mission, was evacuated in the early hours of Thursday morning by United Nations peacekeepers supported by French troops after fighting entered the diplomatic area.
The Ministry of External Affairs had advised members of the Indian community to remain indoors.
Indian mission personnel in Abidjan are in constant touch with them and the situation is being closely monitored.
