The Strategic Forces Command of the Services on Monday morning launched an Agni-I missile from the Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast.

Agni-I is a strategic missile that carries a nuclear warhead.

In the trial flight, the missile, which can target places 750 km away, carried a dummy payload.

India has a quiver of five Agni missiles — Agni-I, II, III, IV and V — all of which carry nuclear warheads. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the missiles have been inducted into the Army.
