As the endgame in Libya approaches, India has offered all possible assistance in reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country devastated by months of civil war that included aerial bombardment by western nations.
“Closely monitoring” the developments, the Foreign Office here felt that “there are indications that the situation in Libya is changing and the recent events in Tripoli indicate that the Transitional National Council is acquiring effective control.”
India wanted the people of the country to take lead in normalising the situation in “a peaceful manner, adhering to democratic norms and with respect for aspirations of the people.” This process should be guided by respect for the sovereignty, integrity and unity of Libya, said a statement.
