Inconsolable Talwars refuse dinner

Lodged in separate cells amid high security, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were “inconsolable” and refused to have dinner, said officials at Dasna prison, where the couple were brought after being convicted of the murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

After the CBI court pronounced its verdict, the dentist couple were taken into custody and taken to Dasna jail in a blue police gypsy, escorted by two vehicles.

They reached the jail around 4 p.m., and looked visibly distressed as they alighted from the vehicle.

“As the quantum of punishment is yet to be delivered, they have been kept in separate cells with high security. Women police personnel have been deputed for Nupur Talwar,” said a senior jail official, who didn’t wish to be named.

According to jail officials, since they reached the jail, both Rajesh and Nupur “have been crying and didn’t take dinner.”

“We tried to talk to them, but Rajesh and Nupur continued crying and were inconsolable,” said the official.
