IM suspects had scouted busy, crowded places: police

March 04, 2013 01:42 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:20 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The two suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives – Syed Maqbool and Imran Khan — are believed to have scouted Begum Bazaar Chatri, Gujarati lane in Koti, the ISKCON Temple area and the GPO in Abids, besides Dilsukhnagar, to execute the bomb blasts, police officials said on Sunday.

The two are currently in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) which is questioning them for more information on the perpetrators of the Dilsukhnagar twin blasts.

On Saturday night, NIA officials took the duo to the blasts site and the other proposed target areas.

The police believe that Maqbool had conducted a reconnaissance of the six places before zeroing in on the ever-busy Dilsukhnagar.

They also reportedly visited Tank Bund and Ranigunj but could not pinpoint a potential blast site.
