The Indian Air Force on Friday inducted a fully air-conditioned, ‘Rapid Action Mobile Medical Hospital,’ that will be deployed in field/disaster areas and provide relief to military and civilian people.
The 25-bed mobile hospital was inducted at a function by Vice-Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal P.K. Barbora at the IAF’s Hindon airbase near Ghaziabad. Air Marshal P. Madhusoodanan, Director-General, Medical Services (Air), who conceptualised the need for such a setup, was also present, a Defence Ministry release said.
The hospital that can be transported by road/air has an operation theatre, an oxygen generating system and other sub-systems.
“More such units will be inducted and positioned in each command zone after evaluation so that the entire geographic spread of the country is duly covered,” Air Marshal Madhusoodanan said.
