Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani has said he was greatly impressed by the revelations contained in the secret documents accessed by WikiLeaks that were serialised in The Hindu . He expressed concern at the continued confinement of >Julian Assange, Editor-in-Chief of WikiLeaks , at the Ecuadoran embassy in London.
In his latest entry on his blog under the title “Challenges of Internet Revolution,” Mr. Advani made a specific reference to reports published in The Hindu on the basis of the WikiLeaks cables and quoted from the >introductory note penned by the >then Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu, N. Ram , the day paper began publishing them.
Mr. Advani said he had finished reading one of the best books titled The New Digital Age , written by Eric Schmidt and Jared Cohen. It was a book about the importance of a guiding human hand in the new digital age, he noted.
He quoted the authors, saying, “For all the possibilities that communication technologies represent, their use for good or ill depends solely on people. Forget all the talk about machines taking over. What happens in the future is up to us.”
He went on to refer to the series of reports in >The Hindu in March 2011 on WikiLeaks cables.
