Houses to pass resolution on prices issue

August 03, 2010 12:56 am | Updated November 05, 2016 04:02 am IST - NEW DELHI:

As per Monday's agreement to end the parliamentary deadlock, in each of the two Houses, a resolution will be moved by the Chair — on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha and Wednesday in the Rajya Sabha — expressing concern over inflationary pressure on the economy and calling upon the Centre to take steps to reduce its adverse impact on the common man.

The discussion on the resolution in the Lok Sabha could start at 11 a.m. as soon as the House convenes, or at noon immediately after question hour, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said here on Monday.

After the chair reads out the resolution, it will be discussed and adopted unanimously.

This is perhaps the first time that such a resolution will be adopted on a subject like inflation. In recent memory, resolutions were adopted on Kashmir being an integral part of India, on the 2002 Gujarat riots, and on the occupation of Iraq by the United States.
