Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of running away from responsibility in Jammu & Kashmir, the Shiv Sena on Thursday said that instead of ending terrorism, demonetisation has increased it.
“Ending terrorism was one of the reasons given to us for demonetisation. Then why are you blaming terrorism while breaking an alliance with PDP in Jammu & Kashmir? In reality, terrorism has increased a thousand times due to demonetisation. People are saying terrorism was much less in pre-demonetisation period,” said an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamana .
Saying that soldiers were dying without even fighting a war, the editorial said, “When it became impossible to stop and rule, BJP ran away by blaming everything on Mehbooba Mufti. The British too ran away in a similar fashion.”
‘No forgiveness’
It said the BJP spread anarchy in the Valley. “The government in Kashmir was formed due to [the BJP’s] greed. The country, jawans and people of Kashmir had to pay a heavy price for this. History will never forgive the BJP for this.” It criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying “running a nation is not child’s play.”
The editorial said, “People feel the Congress-National Conference government was better. Today, Kashmiris are attacking the Army and terrorists are attacking Army posts. Jawans are being martyred every day and innocent people are losing their lives. The Defence Minister offers condolences to families of martyrs via tweets.”
