Outside Ms. Hema Malini’s Juhu residence, Ms. Deol told presspersons: “My mother will help the families of the victims. She is doing this not because she is a leader, but because she is a good human being as well.”

“When the accident took place [on Thursday night], my mother and the family was not in a condition to comprehend anything, but we are sad that a family has lost a dear one,” Ms. Deol said.

“When the accident happened, she was asleep. She had asked everyone to wear the seatbelts. But suddenly we felt a jolt from the rear. The accident was very bad … It was traumatic, so no one could talk ... or think anything.”

Ms. Deol said the actor had been advised rest.

Ms. Hema Malini was discharged from hospital on Saturday.

“On the request of family members, she was discharged around 9:30 am”, a spokesperson of Fortis Hospital told PTI .
