‘Goa Governor Wanchoo offered to resign’

June 25, 2014 01:13 am | Updated 01:13 am IST - NEW DELHI:

As the BJP-led NDA government appears unrelenting in allowing UPA era-appointees in Raj Bhavans, there were indications on Tuesday that Goa Governor B. V. Wanchoo has reportedly expressed his desire to resign.

Mr. Wanchoo, a former chief of the elite Special Protection Group (SPG), met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday. Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia also called on Mr. Singh.

The meetings were officially described as “courtesy calls.”

Sources in the Home Ministry said that Mr. Wanchoo is learnt to have conveyed to Mr. Singh that he would put in his papers, if the government so desired.
