Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday asked Arjun Munda to proceed to Ranchi to have a final round of discussion with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and give it an ultimatum to agree to make way for a BJP Chief Minister or face loss of government.
However, it seems Mr. Munda could not go immediately because of some reasons, but is likely to do so in the next couple of days.
Although by and large the BJP leadership has agreed to an arrangement of “rotation” of Chief Minister’s position between itself and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, there is a section in the party led by L.K. Advani which is opposed to it. This section wants either a BJP-led government for the remaining 55 months of the Assembly’s tenure, or withdrawal of support from the JMM and the inevitable President’s Rule that will follow.
One senior leader told The Hindu that the situation was fluid and nothing could be said with certainty till the issue is finally clarified with the JMM, which is also deeply divided.
