North Goa Principal and District and Sessions Judge Anuja Prabhudessai will be elevated as the Bombay High Court judge.

Judge Prabhudessai will be the first Goan woman judge to be elevated to the High Court.

Widely regarded in legal circles as an upright and impartial judicial officer during her tenure of around two decades, she was suspended for using her discretion in awarding compensation in a motor vehicle

accident claim petition and disbursing amount awarded by another judge. However later, the Bombay High Court cleared her of all the charges and she was reinstated as the District and Sessions Judge.

Hailing from Avede-Kotambi in Quepem taluk of south Goa, Ms. Prabhudessai was in 1992 appointed as the Judicial Magistrate First Class and in 2003, she was elevated as the Principal Judge.
