Fire breaks out in Mumbai high-rise

A major fire broke out on the 15th floor of a multi-storey building at Parel area of Central Mumbai on Saturday with several people stuck on the terrace, officials said.

Four fire-tenders were rushed to the spot and no casualties have been reported so far.

“We have been informed of a major fire at 20-storey Naman Midtown building in Parel area and have rushed four fire tenders to the spot. We have also sent two snorkels to evacuate people stuck in the high-rise,” a Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai official told PTI.

“We are trying to ascertain the number of people injured in the fire, though we have not received reports of any casualties as yet,” the official added.
