Fernandes’ wife calls WikiLeaks cable revelations piece of fiction

April 09, 2013 02:54 am | Updated December 04, 2021 11:39 pm IST - New Delhi:

Socialist leader George Fernandes’ wife Leila on Monday termed a “piece of fiction” WikiLeaks cable revelations that he sought financial assistance from the CIA to organise sabotage activities during Emergency.

The ‘Kissinger Cables’ claimed that the former trade union leader sought to get funds from the CIA and the French government.

“He was very anti-American”

“This is a piece of fiction. There is no question of George asking for funds from the CIA.

“He was very anti-American and you know this,” Ms. Leila told PTI.

“This is complete falsehood, completely concocted and I strongly refute this false story,” Ms. Leila said.
