The Delhi Police have been unable to track Falak's parents or Rajkumar who purportedly handed her over to his teenaged girlfriend, who brought the child to the hospital.

“Investigation reports of the fluid that had been taken out of her brain through surgery yesterday [Monday] have shown presence of infection. That is why her condition is still critical,” said M.C. Misra, head of the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre in the AIIMS.

“We are administering all antibiotic cover to fight the infection. If she responds well, we will immediately conduct another surgery of the brain and extract the remaining infectious fluid,” Dr. Misra said.

“We are working towards catching Rajkumar as soon as possible. We are trying to find the parents of the baby,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chhaya Sharma.

Falak, who is remaining unconscious, opens her eyes and makes limb movement only when doctors give her a painful stimulus.
