ED issues fresh summons to Vadra-linked firm

July 02, 2016 03:25 am | Updated September 20, 2016 10:31 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Enforcement Directorate has served fresh summons on Skylight Hospitality, earlier a private limited company allegedly linked to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, seeking documents pertaining to the sale-purchase of land at Bikaner in Rajasthan.

It has also summoned Mukesh Nagar, said to be a resident of Faridabad in Haryana, through whom the company had allegedly bought 69.55 hectares in January 2010.

No written permit

Last month, the ED served summons on the firm, asking the company to submit the documents by June 24. In response, a lawyer appeared before the agency. However, he did not have a written authorisation from the company. The ED later found out that the private limited company had been converted into a limited liability partnership firm, though with the same address.

The new entity was incorporated on May 13.

The ED’s money-laundering probe is linked to 18 “land grab” cases registered by the Rajasthan police. The State government issued orders in October 2014 for cancellation of the original land allotment. The land allegedly grabbed was sold to seven companies, including Skylight Hospitality.

In a recent statement, the company said it had instituted civil suits for recovery and damages. “Skylight Hospitality Private Limited or Robert Vadra are victims of the original wrongful allotments, fraud and consequent sale of the said land to them in Kolayat,” it said.
