Strict implementation of the model code of conduct, preparation of electoral rolls, issuance of the Elector’s Photo Identity Card to voters and issues related to curbing money and muscle power will likely be discussed in Tuesday’s all-party meeting, convened by the Election Commission here.

Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath and Election Commissioners H.S. Brahma and S.N.A. Zaidi will brief the representatives of the recognised national/State-level political parties on the preparations being made for the general election expected to be held in several phases from April to May.

The current Lok Sabha has term till May 31.

Meanwhile, the Commission dismissed reports that as many as 1.25 lakh central police force personnel would be deployed for poll duty.

“It is too early to release such figures. We are still working out the CPFs requirement with Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami. Only one round of discussion has been completed and there will be at least two more rounds before finalising the figure and strategies of deployment,” a senior EC official told The Hindu .
