Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh on Friday said he would “wait and watch” what ‘avatar’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi would go on to take as it was too early into his tenure now to pass judgements.
“It has not even been a month since Modi became the Prime Minister. It is too early and premature to say anything right now. After the elections, he has to reach out to the people. What will be his ‘Avatar II’, we have to wait and watch,” the leader said, speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport.
The comment came as a response to an article that fellow Congressman and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor wrote for the Huffington Post website that some within the party have construed as effusive praise to Mr. Modi.
In fact, another former Minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar, came down on Mr. Tharoor on a television show on Thursday, stating that such kind of “chameleon politics” was not desirable.
