Delhi-Faizabad Express derails at Hapur in U.P.

Eight coaches of the Delhi-Faizabad express detailed in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh around 9.10 pm on Sunday.

According to preliminary reports from the accident side a few people have been injured but there is no official confirmation yet about the injured.

Later on Sunday night, the front, unaffected portion of the Delhi-Faizabad Express has left for its destination with all passengers at 10.20 pm. The derailed coaches are still at site.

According to ADG Railways Anil Saxena the train derailed near Garhmukteshwar in Hapur. The officials from the Moradabad division and Northern Railways have left for the accident site, he added.

According to Northern Railway officials, the coaches that derailed were at the rear end of the train, including four AC coaches, two sleeper coaches and two general coaches, said a Northern Railway spokesperson. He said the front portion of the train was absolutely safe.

“The incident happened between Garhmukteshwar and Kakakher and none of the passengers have received any grievous injury,” the spokesperson said.

“A medical van from Moradabad has been sent to the spot and another team has left from Delhi. A crane has also been sent to the spot to lift the derailed coaches,” he said.

General Manager, Northern Railway Mr. A.K. Puthia and Divisional Railway Manager, Moradabad were at the spot.
