The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed for a week the summoning of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the party’s vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, and four others in the National Herald case.
A metropolitan magistrate court issued summons to them on Thursday on a complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy alleging cheating and misappropriation of funds by them in the transfer of the ownership of the English daily National Herald from its holding company Associated Journals Limited (AJL) to no-profit entity Young Indian.
Justice V.P. Vaish stayed the summons as the hearing on the petitions filed by Ms. Gandhi, Mr. Gandhi, party’s treasurer Moti Lal Vora and senior leader Oscar Fernandes against their summoning in the case remained inconclusive. He will further hear arguments on the petitions on August 13.
