The Congress on Sunday asked BJP leader L.K. Advani why he did nothing on black money and corruption when the National Democratic Alliance was in power.
Party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi described as “ridiculous and a travesty of the truth” Mr. Advani's allegation that Congress president Sonia Gandhi was “silent” on these issues.
“The Congress president has repeatedly spoken against corruption, including at the Burari session of the party plenary, and the UPA has successfully implemented a number of anti-corruption measures,” he said.
“In fact, it was Mr. Advani who did not whisper a word about black money even once between 1998 and 2004 and did nothing about anti-corruption measures,” he said.
During his ongoing ‘Jan Chetna Yatra,' Mr. Advani wondered why the Congress president was silent on issues of black money, corruption and inflation.
