Congress welcomed the Supreme Court order to stay by a week the Ram Janambhoomi— Babri Masjid title suit verdict due to be pronounced by Allahabad High Court on Friday.

“The party has throughout believed that this problem can be solved either through talks or if it is not possible then the decision of the court should be acceptable to all.

“From both points of view, this is what appears to be the sentiment of the Supreme Court order. Hence everybody should welcome it,” AICC General Secretary and media department chief Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters.

The Supreme Court stayed for a week the verdict and will hear the plea for deferment of the judgement next Tuesday.

The Court issued notices to the contesting parties on the petition filed by retired bureacrat Ramesh Chand Tripathi challenging the order of the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court refusing to defer the verdict in the 60—year—old Ram Janambhoomi—Babri Masjid title suit dispute.
