Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday that the Congress is unnecessarily targeting the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) of India for its report on the coal scam.
“The CAG is a constitutional body and the Congress should not attack it. I appeal to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to rein in the Congress Ministers and MPs who are competing with one another to target the CAG for doing its assigned work,” said Mr. Gadkari.
He was speaking to journalists at the BJP Anusuchit Janjati (Scheduled Tribes) Morcha meeting here.
On the government ban on a Hindutva organisation’s website, Mr. Gadkari said: “Our country is a democratic country and such measures are like the beginning of another Emergency.”
On Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Gadkari said it could be declared any time and asked his partymen to be ready.
Mr. Gadkari said, “The Congress is solely responsible for the pathetic condition of tribals in India. It made false promises to come to power and then did not care about these disadvantaged groups.”
“All the problems which our country is facing today are due to the wrong economic policies of the Congress governments. Congress leadership lacks vision and has lost its credibility. People have lost their faith in this government,” he added.
