Congress slams Jaitley on CAG issue

October 31, 2014 12:07 am | Updated November 17, 2021 04:24 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Congress on Thursday slammed Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for asking the CAG to refrain from sensationalising its findings, saying it amounted to threatening the public auditor. The party also accused the BJP-led government of repeated U-turns.

Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken questioned why Mr. Jaitley had not made similar observations “when the CAG was holding press conferences and giving PowerPoint presentations on its reports during the UPA’s time.” Mr. Maken accused the BJP of double standards saying the party’s leaders had been reversing their stand on one issue after the other since forming the government.
